I’m writing this post to give you guys a couple of tips for better social media managing and marketing (focusing on Instagram & Twitter). Hope you learn a thing or two! ✌️
1. WRITE AN ENGAGING CAPTION. Whether it’s funny, witty, punny, or just plain out an eye catcher! A good caption can help a mediocre picture/post get more engagement, but a mediocre caption will not help a picture/post. Stray away from captions that are too long – your audience does not have a long attention span (remember, this is social media not netflix).
2. ENGAGE WITH OTHER ACCOUNTS. Social media is a 2-way street. If you comment and like on other accounts the chances of you getting comments and likes goes up. Also, when I say other accounts I mean accounts that are similiar to yours. Why would you have a cupcake page and comment on an automotive page? That would just be counter productive. You want to grow within your community first before trying to branch out.
3. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. This one seems like common sense but it is not. One meaningful and thought out blog post a week can be more valuable than 5 crappy written posts a week. Same with tweets, if you are just spewing out tweets like a AK-47 you are more likely to get muted by your audience. Make sure that the content you put out is WORTH putting out. Pay attention to what your audience likes and doesn’t seem to care for to get a better understanding of the content that matters to you and your business.
4. GIVE AUDIENCES A REASON TO FOLLOW YOU. Why should someone follow your social media page? That is the key component in attracting new followers AND retaining them. Share exclusive content, have giveways/contests, or post “behind the scenes”. Basically, find the reason you stand out from other competitors and what you can offer that they can not.
I hope these tips help you! Keep an eye out for part two!! – Wynee
Where to Meet the Person that Could Take Your Music Career to the Next Level:
If you’ve ever been to a music conference, you know that you can learn valuable information from industry professionals, network with the like, and have a good time afterward. There are plenty of the big-name ones that are out of state, out of the country and maybe out of your current financial reach, like SXSW, MIDEM, and ASCAP’s Create Music Expo, but there are also smaller, more affordable ones available. Last Tuesday Zuke Music presented its first networking event, The Music Networking Show, at the Funky Buddha in Boca Raton. The event had four panelists from the marketing, social media, and music industry and three artists from South and Central Florida.
For those of you not familiar with how music conferences work, there are usually one or more panels during the day that discuss a certain topic and a concert at night with one or more stages filled with different performing musicians. What made this networking event unique is that Zuke Music took the concept of a giant two-to-three-day conference and squeezed it into one 4-hour night. Now, you may be wondering why networking events are even a thing, other than its obvious advantages. Arielle Cohen, founder of Zuke Music, said that she created the Zuke Music app “to help other up-and-coming music professionals get connected with other reliable people in the music industry”. She was “sick and tired of people scamming other people in the music industry, not having a reliable place to go”.
The Music Networking Show began with a panel which discussed marketing, social media, and networking in the Music industry. Amongst the panelists were Liza Quin, singer song-writer and Creative Director of Artist Development at All Access IDA & IDA records and DJ Slym, DJ, artist manager, and founder of the Network Music Conference & Entertainment Convention. Panelists Katherine Schober, Social Media Manager for the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, and Nick Moss, founder of Whitewall Media, contributed with their expertise, creating a well-rounded panel. Afterwards, all the panelists hung around so that everyone could meet and network with them.
Let’s not forget about the show! The talent included Brianna Guinn, R&B/Pop Singer Songwriter, whose performance included an acoustic version of American Boy. Fame on Fire, who became popular on YouTube with their Rock covers of Pop songs, garnering up to over a million views on some of their videos, performed an acoustic set of pop and original songs. The last artist who took the stage was rapper, Slendah, who looked like he slid out of the 70s, with his music ranging from funk inspired beats to trap influenced tracks.
The Music Networking Show was a rare opportunity for musicians and listeners to meet industry professionals and get in touch with new music all in one building in one night. Everyone in attendance left with great memories, exciting connections, and their wallets in tact, if they didn’t run up a large bar tab. Word on the street is Zuke Music may be bringing The Music Networking Show to Miami next, so be on the look out!

Who else is tired of the regular Memorial Day Weekend cookout and beach day? That’s why Now Never Inc. decided to amp up this past MDW with the most popping party. There was something for everyone at Hot n Fun from games, henny coladas, puma giveaways, and even FREE (yes, you read that right) empanadas.
The Now Never team even got some cute “hot n fun” novelty cups for the henny coladas. YUM!
Did we mention that we even had Tipsy Twister and the winner of the game won a $50 bar tab? #YAS.
As you can see people were going cray cray over Milly’s Empanadas!
Big shout out to NormaNow for holding the party down! Shout out to our guest DJs of the night: DJ Fergie and DJ Springer.
We had Sidebar booming with over 1000 people throughout the night! We wanted to give thanks to Milly’s Empanadas for providing us with the ability to make it rain empanadas, also to Puma for letting us start our #SuedeSundays Movement. We do this each and every Sunday so make sure to visit us at Sidebar! The Hot n Fun squad will make sure you end your weekend with a bang!
So you’re headed to Miami for Rolling Loud and don’t know what to expect or pack? Now in it’s third year I guess you can call Rolling Loud “the Ultra for hip-hop”. Rolling Loud is an all day festival that allows show-goers to enjoy hip-hop during a span of three days. Below you’ll read what we think you should do before you hit Downtown Miami.
*Picture from Ashley Outrageous*
STAY HYDRATED. It goes without saying at any festival but you don’t want to miss your favorite rapper(s) set time because you passed out in the midst of everyone and their weed smoke. Also, if you do smoke then you want to avoid cotton mouth – bring cash for those lengthy concession stand lines and get you some water!
PACK SMART. Miami is HOT so it goes without saying to leave the sweatpants and hoodies at home. Pack stylish comfortable clothes that you are able to get lit in and possibly crowd surf in throughout the day and keep you cool. Cheap sunglasses and fanny packs might also come in handy.
PACE YOURSELF. Remember it’s a marathon not a race. You have three full days to get “turnt” or as Gucci says “wasted”. EAT EAT EAT (bread does wonders). Don’t be that guy who is out of his mind and can’t function properly – this is not fun and your friends won’t appreciate you ruining their fun. Furthermore, your hangover might impede you coming back to day 2 or 3.
MAKE A GAME PLAN. I’m sorry to burst your bubble but you won’t be able to do it all. Weigh out the cons and pros of your favorite artists and come to terms that you will not be able to see them all. If you’re with friends set a meeting point at a certain time because let’s be honest your phone will probably be dead (portable chargers come in handy).
BE OPEN MINDED. Yes, their name might not be Lil Wayne or Kendrick Lamar but give these up and comers a chance to surprise you. You never know, you might leave Miami with a new favorite!
PLAN FOR TRANSPORTATION. Ubers and Lyfts will be going crazy the whole weekend. Understand that their surge pricing will probably be more than you are willing to pay for. Remember that lyft line is always a cheaper option. Whenever you are ready to call a lyft it will be useful to walk towards a more isolated area of the street to make your pick up faster and easier for you and your driver.
AFTER PARTIES. If you’re looking for something fun to do after the festival I know it’s tempting to fall into the tourist trap that is South Beach but Miami has other great places to it. Ignore the hassle that is calling your lyft and have a drink or two downtown. Wynwood and Brickell also have fun spots to party at as well! Also don’t miss our Rolling Loud after party at Sidebar called Hot-N-Fun! RSVP here: www.hotnfun.splashthat.com
Last but not least:
Best Day Ever can be described by some as one of the most fire pool parties
Miami has ever seen. Norma Now and Yes Julz bring the heat every time they join forces and deliver the coolest party ever. Whether they bring special performances, dope DJs, and/or some good ol’ fashion water toys they know how to keep the party jumpin’. After our successful Winter Music Conference edition of Best Day Ever they decided to turn it up a notch: HOST BEST DAY EVER AT A MANSION WITH YG AND HIS CREW. The coolest thing about this party was is that it was invite only and it was at a secret location, because ya know we like to keep things mysterious.
Girls, Girls, Girls, oh Me oh My!!
Not to mention we had our friend PartyNextDoor stop by and party with us!
And as always, you know we would not be able to turn it up a
notch without some exotic animals.
Best Day Ever with YG & 4 Hunnid was definitely one for the books. We hope everyone who came out had a blast because we had a blast throwing it for you guys! Everything from the mechanical bull, hot tub, jet skis, and booties everywhere called for a successful Saturday afternoon. Until next time!

W O M E N’ S H I S T O R Y M O N T H
Despite the fact that we ALMOST had a female president this year, women are still definitely taking over 2017. From the Women’s March in February to International Women’s Day, this year is full of women empowerment. Women are creating and becoming very influential in different categories that in the past seemed to be more of a man’s territory. From music, fashion, beauty and culture, I’m excited to see what else is in store for the rest of 2017! It is safe to say that this is OUR year so in honor of Women’s History Month here are some of my favorite brands and influencers making a buzz.
Rihanna x Fenty x Puma
In late 2014, Rihanna announced her new partnership with Puma as Creative Director. Since then Rihanna has been killing the sportswear game. From ready to wear clothes, sneakers and slides, Rihanna has taken over the Puma brand! Her most anticipated piece from her collection seems to be the slides. It’s almost inevitable to hear Puma and Rihanna in the same sentence. She has also proven to be very beneficial to the brand by sparking a rise in Puma sales in 2016. This month, Rihanna introduced her satin bow collection in two color ways, silver pink and olive branch. The slides have already sold out online. Did you get a pair?
Teyana Taylor x Reeboks
If you didn’t know Teyana Taylor has been running it before her sexy leading role in the Kanye West’s video “Fade” (shout out to that bod). Though Teyana Taylor has had past collaborations with sneaker brands Ewing Athletics, Adidas and Reeboks, early this year the Harlem native introduced her new partnership with the Reeboks brand. Teyana Taylor teased the re -release of the 1982 Reebok Classic Freestyle Hi collection in the images above. These fitness classics were distinctively designed for women and very fitting for that Teyana Taylor would be the one to introduce the bold and classic pair. These kicks are now available on Reeboks site just in time for the Spring. As a Harlem native myself, it’s good to see women from my neighborhood doing great things.
Emily Oberg x Kith
My #WCW this month and possibly this year is former Complex producer Emily Oberg. In the beginning of the year, Emily Oberg made an announcement via Instagram that she was stepping down from her position of 3 years at Complex for her new endeavor with Kith Women as Creative Lead. She is also founder of her own label “Sporty & Rich” and also released merchandise and a magazine under the same name. Her Instagram feed has a simple “less is more” aesthetic that will force you to become one her 210,000+ followers. I’m excited to see her projects with Kith Women this fall. At only 23 years old Emily is already making her mark in the sneaker culture.
Nike Pro Hijab
Recently, Nike teased a new collection of Pro Hijab for female athletes who are Muslim. Though Nike’s new Hijab collection is targeted to encourage and support Muslim women to in the sports and fitness world, Nike has been received a lot of mixed reviews and backlash via social media. Some people have gone as far as trying to boycott Nike for the collection which is set to release in early 2018. One of the arguments circulating social media is that there were other companies who created an athletic Hijab a long time before Nike. In my opinion, Nike’s brand and platform is on a major scale which can potentially influence other huge brands and corporations to shed more light on athletic Muslim women. Is it good to see such a big brand like Nike finally step to plate or is it all for the fun of profit? All in all, the controversy behind Nike’s new collection has sparked conversations about Muslim women in the sports, fashion and political world all month long.

If you haven’t seen Get Out, what are you waiting for? This perfectly written horrific/comedic film from first time director Jordan Peele keeps us at the edge of our seats the entire time. Get Out is a summary of what racism looks like in today’s generation. It impeccably ties in our society’s views on black people and how we more than often value their culture/bodies more than we value them as human beings.
This film starts off with Chris Washington (portrayed by Daniel Kaluuya) and Rose Armitage (portrayed by Allison Williams from Girls) getting ready to take off for the weekend to her parent’s house so that she can introduce him to her mother and father. Stereotypically, there is an abundance of tension when couples in interracial relationships finally meet the parents. Especially in white and black relationships when we think about the history of whites and blacks dating back to the pre-slavery era. In the beginning scene, Chris touches on the subject of Rose telling her parents of his race. Rose quickly states that her parents do not care and that the worst that will happen is her dad spewing corny dad jokes to Chris the whole weekend.
“My dad would have voted for Obama for a third term if he could.” - Rose
From the beginning of the film, Peele provides clues to the screwed up reality that the Armitage’s live in. From the overly robotic seeming housekeepers to the one black guy Chris runs into at the family party, there is something off about the black people he has encountered. Not to mention, Rose’s brother showcases his overly active craving to put Chris into a headlock and “play wrestle” with him at the dinner table. Attempting to quit smoking, Chris sneaks out in the middle of the night to have a smoke and what he experienced was more than what he bargained for. Walking back into the house Rose’s mother Missy (portrayed by Catherine Keener) lures Chris into the living room and purposely hypnotizes him into talking about his deceased mother.
After the hypnosis, a series of eerie events follow each other such as the cellphone charger, the picture flash, fist pound gone wrong, and guests questioning his African American experience. Chris wants to go home and Rose agrees, but what Chris fails to realize is that the family’s plot to capture him is greater than his goal to escape.
The use of satire in this film to expose racism is done in an extremely conveying way that stuns us when we realize that Peele is an amateur director. This film is a fresh perspective on horror movies as Get Out was far from predictable and unexpectedly comedic. Cultural experiences are taken to a new level in this film that we are able to see both sides of the spectrum when it comes to race issues. Get Out lets the audience witness real life horror that black people face everyday of their lives involving mistrust, angst, and anxiety. Get Out is the kind of film that you watch the second time to fully understand all of the clues that were planted throughout the film to capture it’s terrifying truth.
Get Out is a 10/10.
